102.6 Rainbow FM is the best!

The man that hath no music in himself,

Is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils.

-Shakespeare

If you love reading humour classics like P.G. Wodehouse, then you must have read this quotation often, during conversations between Bertie Wooster and his supremely intelligent butler Jeeves, who has an infallible way with a quotation.

This review is for music lovers and all those who love radio without falling for cheap publicity stunts and gimmicks. The shows I reviewed below are some of the programmes that I listen to on a regular basis. It’s been eight years since I started listening to FM Rainbow 102.6, and the best thing about this station is the variety it provides. If you like good music and prefer listening to different genres of music, this is the only radio station in Delhi. You can listen to country, jazz, rock/pop, ghazal, classical and even the popular chart toppers. The best RJ’s can be heard on this channel and some of the most popular RJ’s on private radio stations started their career with AIR FM Rainbow. Every morning at eight, you could listen to Take Off/ Time-Out for one hour which plays rock /pop, ballads, 80’s music and even soothing country music. I love RJ Shivam’s presentation of this programme as he plays really nice tracks, some of which can’t be heard often on this station. This programme is followed by Matchless Music Hour which plays some of the best classics from the yester years like Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, to Rock Classics and interspersed with Hindi melodies by Lata, Asha, Rafi and all time favourite Kishore Kumar. Is there a better way to start your morning routine? Some popular programmes like Just For You, Live- Wire, You Asked For It [Y.A.F.I] etc. has a huge listenership base. Live-Wire generally hosted by Raman Bhanot is the most popular show.[Sunday 10/11 p.m.] This is a live show where people call in to give a message to someone and chat with Raman. Raman is very witty and plays good music which makes this programme a pleasure to listen to every Sunday. I have some favourite RJ’S like Raman, Kiran, Debdyuti, Gini, Vandana, Sujay John, Shivam and a few others who just makes my day with their fabulous song selections and the way they present the programmes. Fakhruddin Ahmed’s show on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. is very entertaining.
