We went to the Rajdhani Restaurant, at Kalyani Nagar, Pune on 1st May
- Me, my wife, dad, mom and sis - we all were quite excited for the
dinner, since we love gujarati thali and the ocassion was my wifes
promotion at office. So totally enthusiastic about dinner, we reached
to the restaurant at 9 pm. We were asked to wait inspite of a table
unoccupied. We were told that the sofa springs are broken since 1 - 2
weeks. So we had nowhere to sit while we waited. Within 5 minutes, we
got a table.
The thali here, costs Rs.140/- with limited sweet, 2
farsans, 2 - 3 sabzis, dal, kadhi, roti, rice etc. We used to go to the
Crawford Market Rajdhani restaurant a lot, when we used to stay in
Mumbai. So hoping to get the same kind of experience, we sat for
dinner. Now the real struggle started.
They didnt serve us sweet for 15 minutes, inspite of we asking them
again and again. They had a mango masti festival going on. So we were
excited to have Aam Ras(Mango pulp). But to our dissapointment, the
Aam ras was full of essence and too sweet with artificial sweeteners.
The food which was served to us was cold.
Inspite of my dad telling the
waiter that it is cold, they didnt do anything about it. My mom
doesnt eat food with chillies. So we were told that all sabzis are
available without chillies. But, after 20 minutes, they told us, that
only 1 sabzi was available without chillies. And we were already
half-way through our dinner. They didnt give us a 2nd helping of the
farsans. After repeated requests, finally, one waiter came and served
us. My sis took 2 - 3 pieces, thinking that he might not come again(it
was ridiculous). Overall - really bad food. Really bad service. We had
to keep begging for whatever we wanted.
Finally, after dinner, I went to the manager and told him about our
experience. He was not ready to accept that they were at fault. He
instead told me that if the food was cold, why did you have it. He kept
saying that we are lying.
I also told him about the essence and the
artificial sweeteners in the Aam ras, and what about the mangomasti
festival.
I was amazed at the answer he gave:"We dont make it here. We buy it
from outside. It is not our responsibility if it has essence. And the
mango masti festival got over yesterday." So he meant that it was OUR
mistake to have ever come to this restaurant. He also, kept making us
feel, as if we have come from some village. He kept asking us, "Aap
sab kidhar se aaye hai. No one else has any problems here." It was too
insulting for us. I told him, that we will never visit the restaurant
again. He said, its your wish. They are just not bothered.
I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Absolutely Pathetic.
