We visited Rajeev Ghandi National Park in Nagerhole on August 1 and 2 2008. We were impressed by the wonderful environment: good road through the park; thousands(!) of deer grazing peacefully at the roadside; a family of peacocks hopping around, a wild pig and yes(!) an elephant. Not even 20 meters from the road he stood eating while keeping a watchful eye on us. I strongly recommend visiting the park.
But if you do and you are looking for a place to stay, my suggestion would be the
Holiday Homestay
Vimala Estate(opposite Gabnapathy Temple)
Kembu Kolly
K U T T A P.O.
S. Kodagu(near Nagarhole)

The Homestay is owned by Mr. Narendra Putti and his wife. They are the most hospitable people we have ever met. The food(included in the price of Rs 700/pp per day) is excellent. The homestay is set in the coffee/ pepper plantation, owned by the family. Sitting in their courtyard is relaxing and wonderful. At night the romantic lights, the music and the bonfire make this wonderful visit complete.
