A story of a man who travels to bombay(Mumbai) to become famouse arcetect, his dreams is only one thing and that is to gain money and become famouse and accomplish his dream. He comes to mumbai with one suitcase and no where to live. He meets many new friends(jay) Nana Patekar, he meets a girl he then falls deeply in love with(Juhio Chawala) The movie shows the struggles of him bouncing from job to job, you also see him walking with a busted shoe as he has been walking so much on the streets of mumbai for a search for a job, does he make it big, yes he does. He gets into a powerful company which then makes him power crazy and he neglets the people that got him there. He gets into a lot of trouble and finds out his dream he always wanted was not what he thought.
aziz mirzas best movie till date in my view, the direction was spot on.
Performance wise its based on three majore performances Shahrukh khans stepping stone to stardom is this film. You can say its basically like his life story a known fact shahrukh khan came in a rikshaw to shoot for this film he was no star. he performed amazgly and without a doubht one of his best performances ever, evan shahrukh khan says kabhie haan kabhie naa and raju bangaya gentleman ranks as his most finest movies. Nana patekar does amazingly well as jai, his chrector is very much loved and is inspirational, its great seeing two major talents like nana and srk together. Amrita Singh is amazing aaina and this ranks amongs her finest work till date. Juhi chwala is good after qayamat se qayamat tak this ranked as her next hit movie.

All the songs are amazing especially dil hai mera deewana, the title track ajj hamari basti main mach gayi choor, loveria hua.the music was a big hit.

a great movie very underated, only became a semi hit and its a very real movie bas itna sa kwab hai was inspired by this movie, a really funny, emotional and entertaining power house movie check it out if you aint seen it nana and srk at its best
