I like my food simple, with less makeup (less masala), easy for stomach, easy on heart, easy on soul
and easy on my purse. I always avoided eating North Indian Food in Bangalore. Couple of reasons, every place serve good
rotis, parotas, but for some reason, they think that those healthy rotis need to be eaten with greasy, heavy, rich gravies (the only other option is dhal, for how long can you just eat dhal rotis) other reason is most of the places sell gravies between 60 to 120 rs, now thats steep for a lunch, I mean for part of lunch.
Now to RAMS Kitchen (No 1, 10th Cross S.P Extension, Malleswaram) (Its close to Dattaraya Temple)
(Phone: 9686969707 / 9845401071)
I usually drive through 10th cross when I am travelling between Rajajinagar and Frazer town. One day I saw a huge bright board in White and Violet that said (RAMS Kitchen - Pure Veg Food). Me vegetarian, like vegetarian - always in lookout for new places to try. So I parked my scooter and ventured in.The owner was young professional (Moulick Ranpara), place started by the couple. The place looked very clean and hygienic. He said they serve north Indian - stuffed parotas, pulkas. Me calorie conscious ordered for plain parotas (he said they dont mix maida and use pure wheat). They had simple vegetable bhajis, beens, beetroot, cabbage, potato etc. Now the price - parotas and phulkas were I think 7rs each, and bhajis between 5 to 15 per bowl. Wow! thats a steal I thought.
I was chatting with the friendly owner and kept ordering non greasy parotas and phulkas (yes I alternated each order) I ended up eating like 6 of them! wow and two bowls of vegetables. He also gave me cup of curds. I ordered for a cup of sambhar. They obliged. Sambhar and Parato - just try getting this combo somewhere else - I dare you. I had great dinner. 6 parotas for 42 rs and couple of bhajis for 15 rs. I also had two hot jamoons. Now thats what I call a great combination dinner.
Lot of people order take out there.
Very friendly owner, his wife and sister-in-law have kept the kitchen very clean and hygienic. Very tasty food, simple non greasy bhajis, hot parotas, very very easy on stomach and great on purse too. This is a regular joint and has become my favorite dinner place whenever I drive through that way.
