I own all of Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, and constantly watch them. It was wonderfully taken and when the trailers for Anand Sagar’s Ramayan came, I was very excited. After watching a few episodes of it though, I came to the conclusion that although it was not as good as Ramanand Sagar’s, it was very nicely taken and actually quite good for a serial taken in the saas-bahu soaps time period.
The Cast: After watching Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, I became a great fan of Arun Govil and Deepika Chikhalia. For many days, I saw them as Ram and Sita. Now, after watching Anand Sagar’s Ramayan, I came to the conclusion that Debina Bonnerjee fits the role of Sita, but Gurmeet Choudhury does not. I try to picture him as Ram as best as I could, but something about his demeaner and acting is just off. He’s not a bad actor, quite the contrary, but in my opinon, acting wise I think Arun Govil did better. He may have looked a little older, but he wasn’t bad looking. Now Debina Bonnerjee, she fits the role of Sita beauty wise and also acting wise, but I think she’s a little too straightforward sometimes. Personally, I like Deepika.
I think this Ramayan was too stretched, and sometimes it was annoying, but I can understand why they did that. They aired more times a week than the other one.
The costumes were lovely, but offhand, don’t you think Debina Bonnerjee wore too much pink? Just an observation.
I really don’t like Ankit Arora, because he looks older than Gurmeet. You can also tell he’s a little inexperienced acting wise. Sunil Lahri on the other hand was great. You just have to love him!
I’m a little dubious about some of the plot lines they showed, but they may be right. It’s just.did the scene with Urmila and Lakshman in the garden really happen? And does Janak or Kushadwaj have two sons? I’m just asking.not to be rude.
All in all, this Ramayan isn’t bad at all, but I have to admit that I like the old one better. Sorry.all the new Ramayan fans! I tried!
