Funky little place

This funky little restaurant with only 7 tables serves the cuisine of the former nawabi capital of Rampur. You’ll find much less cream than in most North Indian food, but the gravies are rich in flavor and aroma. Some of the cooks were once employed by Rampur’s richest families. Eat their haleem (minced mutton simmered in spices with lentils and cracked wheat) or murg kalk mirch (chicken and black pepper in a cream sauce). The murg gillafi kebab (chicken kebabs beautifully covered in chopped mint, onions and tomatoes) and dal Rampuri (fermented white lentils served like a cold bean salad) are unique. Finish off with the Rampur ki sevain (vermicelli baked in a red sauce and topped with pistachios and crumbs of dry milk), less sweet than most Indian desserts.
