Amalgamating fiction and non-fiction, the past and the present, reality and make belief, hate and love, anger and calm, is not the easiest thing to do. To top it you are judged by hundreds of thousands who come from diverse backgrounds and diverse academic insights. Rang De basanti is able to appeal to the senses of the majority. With tons of humour and some very good acting from the likes of Amir Khan, this movie is an outright enjoyable. Its like what they say, paisa vasool and much more.
But the interesting part about the movie is that it is able to tickle our conscience for a while, make us realise the mess around us, yet allows us to see for ourselves the results of bravado by a bunch of youths. This movie alerts us, makes us touch our conscience and also makes us realise the poignancy in todays India. For those governing our beautiful country, its an appeal of sorts...shape up and do something good. Our politicians are all not evil. There are many good people amongst them. Maybe this movie stirs their conscience also like it does the ordinary citizen of India. This country is too great to be exploited by a handful of rotten people. We, the ordinary people need to find an answer from within. The consequence of rash decisions and behaviour is very well depicted. We need to look for an alternate solution. The movie guides us towards a purposeful destination, if not till the end, at least till a very long way. Its a must see movie. Very well directed.
