Rang De Basanti is an experience, I will never foget. It is a well told story and with a message in it. The message is not preachy, because the character lives thru the message they are trying to pass. It is not just about how young generation should get involve in politics, but it is more about how to make the country better.
Credit must go to Rakesh Mehra for telling the stories of the past heroes of India, and not losing the main character. Also, the film could have gotten preachy, but every time the viewer might feel the preachiness, then a character just make fun of that preachiness, giving both views of the point.
Performances
It would be unfair to single out one person, IMO. All of them complimented each other very well. The chemistry between the whole group is superb. It also helps that all of them are great actors (yes even Soha stood her own in this one). They performed the parts of heroes of India very well as well as the character they are playing. All of them had their own moments as well. Aamir breaking down, Siddharths scene with his dad, Sharmans showing anger at Laxman, Kunals conversation with his family, Atul Kulkarni saying sorry to Madhvans dialogs in the restaurant.
Music is also amazing and the song Khoon Chala and Roobaroo are picturised so well.
In short, RDB is not a political drama nor its a story of friends growing up. But its a story of how politics, and the revelution of India influences them. A perfect film by a perfect Group (this includes the whole crew from Aamir to whoever).
Go for it, itll make you laugh, cry, make you feel proud.
