Im in unison with everyone when they shower their tributes to this masterpiece by A R Rahman
The beauty....if you have not noticed.......is the variety of songs belted out.....Someones fav is Rubaru...while some1 else likes Khoon Chala....khalbali.......title song......tu bin bataye...ik onkar....
And then there is Luka Chuppi
Dint know much about the song till someone recommended it to me....had watched it in the movie but the whole song was not played.........took 3-4 hearings before it began to grow on me(as is the case with most Rahman songs).
But till date I must have heard this song myriad times and yet goosepumps come along.
The song starts with the strumming of guitar and is a bit slow initially....the song reaches another level whent the tabla takes over.....brillant orchasterization........maybe Lata M is not at her best but her voice suits the song...
The last four minutes of the song are unbelievable...........especially when Rahman takes over from Lata.
The last 90 seconds of the song which is primarily a classical piece.... are simply out of this world.....the tempo rising ....the song building to a crescendo..........the gradual addition of instruments(harmonium, guitar, flute, tabla)....some stupendous singing from Rahman........at the end, you cannot resit the temptation of hitting the rewind button....
The main reason for me posting this is because not many people have heard this song of a lifetime as yet because it has not been promoted well..............I request those who have not heard it to lend it a ear 2-3 times....
and then the magic will begin.....
