The movie, Rangoon, is almost kind of a triangular love story set at the backdrop of pre independence struggle. A ruling bollywood actress of the 40’s, Julia(Kangana Ranaut) who under some unprecedented situation travels to the Myanmar border to perform various shows to escalate the fortitude of the British troops. Enters Jamadar Nawab Malik(Shahid Kapoor), a prisoner of war, serving the British army who becomes a diehard lover of the actress. Things turn serious when back home, a producer and former action star Rusi Billimoria(Saif Ali Khan) an admirer of the British, and lover of Julia crosses swords with Nawab Malik. And caught between the rifts is Julia, who with her own set of ideologies tries to balance her love on the canvas of war. The performance of Kangana is really impressive, an extremely versatile role that she has balanced perfectly. Both Saif and Shahid have done a fabulous acting. Vishal Bhardwaj’s style of direction is yet again reflected in this movie with an exquisite cinematography by Pankaj Kumar. A nice movie worth watching.
