I booked a 1-day tour of the pink city Jaipur. We selected Rao travels as Mr Rao’s an ex-serviceman. Our expectations were high after the tour plan explained by the person at the Vasant Vihar office.
Little did we know that our 1-day tour was going out to be a horrible journey. To start with we got a pick-up at 6.30 am as against the 5am planned. To our utter dismay the transport provided was a cramped Tempo Traveller which thankfully had AC. It gave some relief from the blaring music and movie that the driver was playing. I simply slept off the journey.
By the time we reached Jaipur it was noon. The tour said they will cover Amber palace, Jaipur palace, Hawamahal, Birla temple, Jantar Mantar. By the time we came out of Jaipur palace it was 2pm and physically exhasuted. Driver simply skipped Jantar Mantar and Birla temple to accomodate the other places to see. Instead he took us to some showroom for Jaipur crafts. He might have got some good commission from the shop. The driver took us to some veggie hotel which I would not go if am a Jaipur resident.
When we demanded to go to Birla temple, the driver stopped at some local temple and the Driver, helper and guide trio vanished.
The guide, I dont have words to describe him. What a guy. Mr Rao could have had an audio cd played to explain Jaipur. Saves time, saves head-ache.
I suggest look for alternate arrangements, keep-off Rao travels
