This place was recommended to me by my uncle. I was told it was famous for its sambar and one of the best hotels in chennai.
taste:
The only good thing abt this place is the sambar. And you can get plenty of it (they use small mugs to serve sambar). Sambar idly was nice. Coffee is good but expensive. Other south indian dishes (read as everything that can me taken with sambar) is okay. All other dishes, north indian or tandoori tastes bad..
quality:
Food quality seems okay. But vessels including spoons, tumblers, plates, everything is too rusty, old, blackened.. Not a place to go if you expect food on clean vessels to be served.
seating and ambience:
Pathetic. Its too hot inside the hotel. Ac room is a joke. No proper ventilation. Smoke from the kitchen is everywhere.
No proper seats. Seats are too small and have no armrests. Too many seats around a table. Youl have to be careful so you dont eat from the next persons plate.
Hotel architecture needs a lot of improvement. Its like a haunted mansion. Better not go without a cell. You may get lost in the maze!!!!! Building is too old. Passageways (ya. U have to climb 2 sets of stairs and move through passage ways to go to the ac room.. Its almost like hidden and they dont want anyone to find it too narrow.
The seating and ambience really puts you off..
service:
Very poor. Its like a single guy waits on nearly 20 tables or so I guess. You have to shout above/ fight with the neighbouring tables to get the attention of the waiter.
price:
For the food they provide, prices are too high. Food and service definitely not worth the money you shell out. Really expensive. Its ludicrously priced.
