GM shamelessly accepts his oversight

My brother who was working in TKM gave me the inside news that Toyota was launching Innova, so I waited restlessly for the day to arrive. I came to know about the launch even before there was any kind of Ads. My brother also told me very clearly to book the vehicle in Nandi Motors and not in Ravindu. But I didn’t want to waste time going to Electronic City. So I made the mistake of booking in Ravindu.


We liked the car so much that we booked it immediately. We called up our family and friends to tell about the car. Couple of days later my sister also booked an Innova, in Ravindu. My booking number being 357 and her number 447. My sister went once again to confirm on the model and color. Both of us had decided on the same Silver color, Petrol Engine, G3 model.


During her visit, my sister was told that she will get the car on March 11. She also saw that our application was kept aside! She immediately called us since we were told that we will get the car only by April last week.


We went to the showroom and enquired about this. We were assured by the Sales executive that they are getting only 120 cars a month so it will surely take couple of months for BOTH our cars delivery. We were convinced and returned home.


On March 11 my sister gets a call to come and collect her car!! We were all shocked. We immediately called to ask about our car. The Sales executive told that she will get back to us. She called back to tell that the car was indeed allocated to my sister whose booking number was much later than ours. She said she will get more information and get back later in the evening.


We had a sleepless night that day waiting for the call. The next day morning she calls to tell that they have goofed up. And cant do anything about this. I spoke to the GM of Ravindu Motors about this. Even he had no clue.


All he had to say was that it was an ’oversight’ and he will get back to us. I cant believe that this showroom run by the Kirloskar family, selling cars manufactured in their own unit, did not do such a simple check as to who has booked earlier.


Its pure negligence and unprofessional. Its either that or the Sales guy who sold the car to my sister had a way with the bookings. We cant even cancel our booking here now, for if we do, we might get the car even later.


Well, I learnt my lesson the hard way. Should have listened to my brother. If this message would help at least one more person I would be gald.
