We have several VCR’s in our home. There is one in each bedroom, which is 3 and one in the living room. So no doubt that we can all watch what we want to watch when we want to watch it! And I use my VCR in my room to record all of my favorite shows. I am going to write about that particular VCR now.
The Product
My unit is the VR556-4-Head VCR with VCR Plus +Silver™ Programming System and Master Touch® Universal Remote control. It is black and silver in color design, and it looks really nice!
I paid 99.00 for this unit, but you can find them cheaper.
To set up the clock and recording features is very easy to do. You simply put your TV on channel 3, press the menu/setup button on the remote and a menu will come up giving you various options to choose from. But be sure you press the SAVE feature or you have to do it all again!
There is a set up time feature and set up program recording feature. You can set up one time recording, daily recording, weekly recording or you can set up the unit to record while on vacation weeks in advance! And all from the ease of use from the remote control
You can also use the remote to fast-forward, rewind, play, pause, record, stop and you can make the tape you are watching go slow speed forward! I like this when I am looking for something in a particular scene.
On the VCR you can also, fast forward, rewind, pause (which on some VCR’s you cannot pause), you can hit play or stop and of course on or off.
Once you have set up your VCR to record, you simply turn it off and you are set! I also like it because when I am through watching a movie and I hit rewind, I can press the power off button and the VCR will continue to rewind and will shut off when through. This way I don’t forget to have my VCR set for the next show I want to record. I really like this feature best of all! I am so forgetful sometimes and I do get upset if I miss my soaps!

A Little History
RCA is a Thomson business, is operated by Thomson multimedia Inc. Elihu Thomson predicted the future of electronic art with a paper he wrote in high school. Stating in that paper that “It seems destined to become at some future time the means of obtaining light, heat and mechanical force.”
His calling as one of America’s most prolific inventors. His career has spanned over 5 decades and he has been granted over 696 patents on his inventions such as lights, generators, electric welding machines and x-ray tubes. But it was the recording wattmeter, a method of measuring the amount of electricity used by a home or business that brought him his fame and fortune and opportunities of life.
Thomson built one of the leading electrical companies in the 19th century. His experiments alternated, (although disputed as dangerous by Thomas Edison, who was the current promoter of electronics during that time), led to the alternating of current technology of the US Standards. Thomson was lighting the streets of Kansas City, Mo., and I think that Edison may have been a little jealous. Just my opinion on the subject.
In 1892, Elihu Thomson helped to establish a tradition of regular product improvements and a scientific research that led to the creation of General Electric. Enough history! On with the product!
How I Feel
This VCR is really very easy to use. I receive a very high quality picture and great special effects! I like the digital auto tracking because I don’t have to manual adjust the picture.
And I also like the VCR Plus + Silver™ feature because it make programming a lot easier with a whole lot less entries. It also automatically adjust the time so that I don’t miss any program, beginning to end.
And the Master Touch™ universal remote is very easy to use. It is a black slim remote and easy to see the buttons and read the wording. I can now use it in the dark!
I like being able to set my VCR up with no problems. It really is very easy to do. Some people make such a big deal about setting up their VCR’s, but with this one, I have had no problems and have not needed a College Diploma to do so!
Be sure that you fill out your registration information and send it in! You can also go to the website and find information about your product, which I really like.
