It's been around for ages.

Here in the US, bowling has been around for ages. You can watch old television shows and see the big thing back then was bowling. In some areas of the country, it’s still as popular as it was back then.

The game consists of 10 pins, 10 frames, 1 ball and scoring. A perfect game would be a score of 300. Very very few people can get a 300.

Their is 10 frames to bowling. Each frame you get to throw 2 balls, in other words, you get 2 chances to try and knock down all of the pins. If you knock down the pins on the first ball, this is called a strike, and you do not get to again until the next frame. If you happen to only knock down 5 pins the first ball, and the other 5 pins the next ball, this is called a spare.

It’s a rather inexpensive recreation sport to play in the US. When the bowling alleys have open bowling, this means there are no leagues bowling at that time, they usually will charge around $3.00 per game, per person and another $1.00 for shoe rental.

If you wanted to play the sport at a higher level, then it would get expensive. There would be league and tournament fees that you would have to spend, and then also you would need to have your own ball. When you play for fun, the bowling alley will supply the bowling balls. Their weight consist of 6 pounds to as high as 15 pounds. Sometimes higher.

The kids seem to love to play for fun, and it’s a great game for families to play when the weather outside is miserable.
