Let Your Mouse do the Walking !

You can use the internet to find work!

To search for work on the internet, the best place to start is an Internet  directory. Directories such as Yahoo, list the best important sites on a topic.

Some  sites offer good coverage for many fields, including education, health care and trades. It’s a good idea to check out several sites to find out which ones offer the best information for you. Also, look for sites hosted by professional associations. Some have job matching services that allow you to screen for opportunities advertised by employers or post your resume on-line.

Career Gateway is a great place to find job information.A major benefit of this site is , that the information is organized under three main headings.Canadian, American and Overseas sources. This site provides a number of resources to help you understand the ins and outs of the occupation that interests you!

JobProfiles.com is another career information site, with a personal touch! On this site, real people discuss what they do everyday and what they do & don’t like about their jobs. They describe the challenges they face and share the wisdom of their experience. You can browse through the list of occupations or select one of the categories such as Arts & Sports or Education & Social Services. It may be a bit of an eye-opener.

Once you have selected about four or five good sites, check out all of the features available there. Some may let you post your resume ( so that employers can find you) and set up an electronic agent which will send you an email message when positions that meet your criteria are posted.

You can find more about how to search for work on-line at   https://about.com. Some sites are free while others charge user fees.

Finally, don’t forget that many companies post current openings on their web sites and you have to be on the look out whenever you have access  to the  internet to  apply on-line!

Best of Luck in your job search !
