I want to tell you about playing pool and how it was when I was a young woman.
In Toronto, like so many places, pool was a mans game; in fact, it was illegal for a woman to play pool in a public billiards hall.
I was about 18, I think - old enough to play pool, but certainly not the right six - it was summer and I was working at the Globe & Mail (a newspaper here). There was a fella (around early twenties) who used to drive me home to the east end of the city. He always liked to stop for a game of pool.
Hed take me in with him and the owner there would let me play - even though I wasnt supposed to be playing - as long as no customers were in the shop, I could play.
It was shortly after that time, that the laws were changed and we girls were allowed to play. Ive been playing ever since.
Im not going to say that I hate to brag - because I dont hate to brag - I love to brag! Im an ace pool player!
Watch out guys!
Carly :-)
