I flew to London twice in the past year. I flew two different airlines, and the differences were night and day. One I prefer not to fly with again if I have a choice, but the other I would gladly ride with forever.
Who is this airline that I love so much? Its British Airways. From the time I checked in, the service was fantastic. I checked in with a very friendly clerk who was polite and efficient. Upon boarding the plane I was pleased at the relative comfort of the coach class seats. The food was worthy of a good restaurant. They offered wine with my meal, at no extra charge, and the cabin crew told us if we desired more to snack on during the flight, just ring our buzzer. They were as good as their word. Not once did anyone say that we had enough soda to drink, or had eaten our snack quota. They patrolled the aisles regularly as well checking our needs.
My return flight was fraught with problems. The train was late bringing me into the airport. My flight was already boarded and it was too late. They apoligized that it was so, and put me on the next flight. No hassle. Just, Here you go, can we call someone to inform them of your delay? They even called my small regional U.S. airline to let them know I would need to make a different connection. As I said, fantastic. This airline was not one of their partners, and it necessitated them making an international phone call.
Once more, the onflight service was superb. This is one airline that is definitely on the ball and I will gladly pay a few more extra dollars next time I fly if the seats are available.
