This about a very common tactic that this bank uses to loot its customers. I always have heard about this but now it happened to me as well.
I started using Citibank Credit Card since last two months after too much of sales calls from their sales officer about comfortable (So-called..!!) services. Started using in July. But never received a bill in August. In September, I received an email about a balance, which was higher to my expectations. So I called up customer support (Remember this is the only bank in india who do not provide toll-free customer support number) and asked for explanation.
They listed all the spendings that I made using Credit card plus Late payment fees + Interest charges + Service Tax. When I objected about the bill that never received, the Customer Support guy, very conviniently offered me credit of Late Payment fee. When I asked about Interest charges and Service tax on late payment, he said he can not revert them back !!!!
When he agrees that the fault is from banks side by reverting back the late payment fees, why should I bear the consequences in terms of Interest fees and Service Tax. He could not justify this.
So I sent an email to their customer support expecting some answers to this query. It is about 10 days, when nobody has taken a care to respond back !!!!
And this is not my first experience with Citibank. I had the similar experience 3 years back because of which I stopped using Citibank credit card. It was my serious mistake to believe what sales guy told me and started using Citibank Card.
PLEASE LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE and you dont make mistake by using Citibank Credit Card.
