Eureka Forbes in its prime was one of the best sales organizations in the country. Now, however, one can make out from the kind of sales people they now send that theyre slip-shod, inefficient, unorganized and wont stop at pulling a fast one to con customers!
This company that claims a Tata connection for the sake of credibility (not that the Tatas make great products - will soon put up a review on the Indicom fixed wireless terminal) is turning into a fly-by-night operation.
About the machine, there isnt much to say except that the water appears to be clean. Thats about it. One can only wonder about their claims of e-boiling - whatever the heck that is - and being your friend for life.
Sure enough, the friends turned up after over a year to lure us into an annual service contract. Now, it turned out, the salesman had cheated us by saying that this particular model did not require maintenance since it was a different technology! As we discovered later, either he was lying or the service people were trying to con us.
Anyway, we coughed up the 1k and change for the annual service contract - like life insurance, yknow; no one plans on dying anytime soon, but good to have a cushion for the folks you leave behind, right?
So we promptly forgot all about it until the damn machine went on the blink. My wife dug up the papers and we called the service center. This was a Friday and the lady at the other end in her best call-center voice told us that it would be taken care of within 24 hours and was there anything else she could do for me. There wasnt, so we decided to wait until next morning.
Several calls and days later, I bullied the Eureka Forbes people into sending a technician (who left another irate customer unattended, as he told me later). It was a tiny bug (literally) that had tripped the internal circuit and took about 10 minutes work.
However, he didnt replace the filter and carbon black saying it didnt need to be changed. Well just take his word for now. But now that I know these guys, will double check that one.
My advice to all of you is check out the market and if there are proven alternatives to AquaGuard (and this goes for all other Eureka Forbes products, since the people and the service levels will be the same), take it. Dont touch anything these people make - if you can avoid it!
