Honda Dio, this bike was launched after the Honda Activa.So, there was every possibility that the bike might fail in the market. But, it didn’t. Honda came up with one of the most amazing stratagies to make this bike a success. They retained the same setup, they had used for the Activa, but changed the styling of the Dio, which became it’s biggest plus. The headlamps were larger than any other bike. This gearless scooter has delivered in every aspect, that a bike needs to. The bike also had to be made more light. Honda achieved this too! They brought down the weight of the Dio to 99 kgs in comparison to the Activa which was a 111 kgs.
Power, Engine Capacity...
Being powered by a 102 cc engine, the Dio promptly gives 7 PS/7000 rpm. This bike has been the best successor for the Activa. Hey, I am not telling that the Activa wont sell anymore/ It’s only that, this bike, Dio has been enhanced to do better than an Activa. Honda has very few bikes.Infact, only 4 makes & Dio tops all these. The braking, as I always say, never expect a great brake system in non-geared scooters. The mileage is less, well, my Dio gives only 39 even though the magazines claim that it gives about 47 at the city.
My Experience with the bike...
I bought my Dio a year ago. The bike has done about 3500 kms. I would say that the buy was a good one, because, this bike has given me minor problems only. The after sale service of Honda is awesome. Hats off, Honda!!! My Dio, a black one, has been giving a top speed of 70 kmph even though my friend says his gives about 78 on highways. Is he kidding? I have gone on the East Coast Road for 30 kms & my bike struggled to reach 70. Well, I care a hang about the top speed.As far as I am concerned, the faster your bike goes, the wear & tear of it’s parts get quicker.
Pricing..
The pricing, I wouldn’t say the bike is costly.It has been normally priced. The bike comes at 38 thousand in Chennai. This price has been in competition to a much awaited Bajaj Wave.
