I had booked for a 7 day trip to Ladakh from Bangalore on June 16th. There was a discount offered to
co-passenger of 25% which I was entitled for so the total cost of trip worked out to be around 64k.The agent Mr. Singh sitting in Yatra’s Jaynagar Lounge had written to me that tickets were available on for 16th departure. So I transferred 15k as advance to book my slot for the trip for me and my wide. He gave me a booking reference number as YT 9130863.
However this is where things starts to get worse. I was expecting a confirmation mail saying details about my booking. I did not get any reply from this Yatra representative.When I called their helpline and
mentioned the above said booking number they did not have any information stored in their tool. So there was no booking made at this point of time I assume. He calls and tells me some nonsense reasons to change my booking dates to 9th or 23rd of June. Finally On 26th March this guy informs me that there are no seats available for 16th. I asked for a refund of 15k as I got irritated when I heard that suddenly seats were not available for 16th. Next I made some adjustments to my personal commitments and asked if the dates can be moved to 9th of June but I wanted the package at the same cost of 64k as I had sent the advance amount much earlier when the rates were lower. Guess what! this guy says that I will have tp pay as per current charges which worked to be around 71k. It was delay on his/Yatra’s part that their snail paced process required 10 days to know if seats are available for a specific date or not. On top of that they are not ready to give me the package for the same cost as it was on the day I had booked the trip. I got so irritated that I cancelled my trip altogether. It requires person with heart to understand the mental preparation required to plan such long trips and believe me, these guys don’t have it. I would recommend people not to venture into these "agents" for planning our personal trips and rely more on personal efforts for making the whole process more transparent and enjoyable.
