Rec is the kind of horror film I love. It does not feed you gore and fear by the bucket load, a lot of the time you are left to develop your own ideas and fears, which in turn can create the most terrifying of experiences when watching a horror movie.
The movie begins with a bored Spanish reporter and her camera man filming life in a firestation as part of a series namedWhile you were sleeping. They are taken to a flat where an emergency has arised, and from there the horror unfolds.
The residents of the block of flats they have visited appear to be infected with a disease that causes them to act violently primitive by biting fellow humans and spreading the disease. Unlike similar movies such as 28 days later and dawn of the dead you do not know the source of the infection until the end. By the time you do reach the focal point of the film you have spent so much time anticipating the revealing moment and developing your own ideas that you are literally on the edge of your seat with fear and anticipation.
I wont reveal the ending. All I will say is that its highly original and relatively disturbing, making for some really horific viewing.
