Ever had this problem of having long and flat foot with lengthy toes. Then the literature below is a must read for you. Others..you lucky ones! please help your odd friends by reading this.
I am one of those ill-fated few who have these problems. Since childhood, I’ve always gone for the biggest sizes when it comes to footwears when most of my age-equals go for medium ones. Despite having a broad and flat foot, I have lengthy toes. To add to the woes, my second toe is considerably lengthier than my first toe. As I grew up, I observed that the third toe has also grown lengthier than the first one! Hey, I can hear your laugh. But this is not a joke. Its a serious problem when it comes to wearing footwears especially shoes.
Bata - A name which is known to every household in India. I have a pair of Ambassador shoes and hushpuppies. I think these are the brands which are known for big sizes from Bata’s stable. No doubt, these shoes are good for broad foot. But the problem of lengthier toes still remains. It worsens when you have to walk a long distance everyday. The lengthier toe starts paining just because of its constant rubbing with the shoe’s inner wall. For broad-footers much damage is done to the last(tiny) toe. You will be surprised to hear from me that I was even thinking of having a surgery to level around these toes!
Solace was reached for these deformities through Reebok. I felt like it was a one-size-fits-all shoe for me. I bought it for 2, 300Rs in a factory outlet. I know I was paying a high premium but definitely less than the cost of a surgery!
Reebok shoes look wonderful. Somehow I found it had better looks than its counterparts (Adidas or Nike). I bought a brow-coloured one which am using it for the past three months. It has alleviated all the pain I had. The sole is soft enough to withstand a flat foot. The front part is groovy to accomodate the odd toe. The mid-part of the shoe is broad. But again it can be narrowed easily by tight lacing.
The shoes are easy to maintain also. Though they have a soft inner, the outer part is rugged. The shoe also goes well with both jeans and formal pants. People with broad foot can try out size 12. (US standard) And you know, sometimes you get these sizes for a better discount than the normal ones due to its niche market! At last I found out there is one benefit for all my deformities.
