My 300th review and a cool movie!

300 IS ON

I always hated most of the remakes (even if Priyadharsan managed to make some good ones), and I never enjoyed watching love stories. But RHTDM is a huge exception, and I selected this movie to write my 300th review due the simple fact that this happened to be my favourite ’’sentimental’’ movie ever, being a different love story, not the usual style of nonsense.

Most of the viewers have given this movie the status of being a poor movie with some good songs (even in mouthshut having only 38% recommendation). But I would say that this happens to a fantastic movie with beautiful songs, which makes it a better choice than the usual love stories. The movie happened to be a story of love at first sight, winning the love, heartbreak, and finally an end that you will love to watch!

I have seen a few parts of Minnale, and I still like the Hindi version may be because I love the dialogues, and Dia Mirza certainly looked more fascinating than Raima Sen through out the movie. The music of the movie is just an unforgettable experience. ’’Zara Zara’’ is the most melodious one, but still the one which I prefer is ’’Kehna Hai’’. ’’Sach Keh Raha Hai’’ is another beautiful song, specialized for broken hearts. The others are fine too.

THE MOVIE

Maddy (Madhavan) and Sam (Saif Ali Khan) happens to be at the same college, and have got some huge rivalry going. After a series of fights, both goes off in their own paths, the former works in a firm while Sam settles in US. Even after lots of pressure from his dad (Anupam Kher), Maddy doesn’t want to marry until he finds ’’his kind of girl’’. But everything changes as he finds Reena (Dia Mirza).

But Reena is all set to get married, and as she hasn’t yet seen her future husband, Maddy tries to win Reena’s heart disguised as ’’the one’’ and he does everything right winning Reena’s love until everything turns upside down when her fiance reaches India and Reena happens to know the truth even before Maddy could tell her.

This man happens to be Maddy’s old enemy, Sam who is not ready to sacrifice his girl for some one whom he hates the most in this world. Now its up to Reena to make a choice, and what will she do? What will be Sam’s attitude towards his rival? How will Maddy convince Reena who doesn’t even want to see him after knowing about all the lies he had said to her.

ALL THE STARS

Madhavan is quite impressive as Maddy, especially at the marriage where he sees the girl and tries to introduce himself. He has displayed the emotions very well in the right way. He has performed well during the songs, as well as during the times of desperation and heartbreak.

It seemed that he have all the potential to be a lover boy in the movie. I can remember him doing some great work in the movies like ’’Alai Payuthey’’ (Tamil original of Saathiya), he really is a talented actor. The fact is that he has also managed the funny scenes in a cool manner, certainly better than his friends.

Saif Ali Khan looks more cool than ever, playing the more decent guy, who may be considered to be more civilized and having more control over his mind than Maddy. Even if he is not the major star in the movie, he has managed to make a nice impact in the movie. In the scenes of farewell in college as well as in the final scenes, he looks exceptional.

Dia Mirza looked pretty cool and simple in the movie, and she has done great work considering the fact that this was only her first movie. The debutant seemed to have some skills, and she has managed to play the conventional character that she was supposed to do, very well, supported by her own cute smile. I just don’t think that she looks better in any other movie.

As we consider the other characters, the only one worth mentioning may be Anupam Kher as Maddy’s father. He plays some kind of a ’’yo’’ father who advices his son on how to get the girl he loves. He has done his role to perfection with all the experience that he has. He just seems to do the role with a certain amount of ease, and the way in which he handles both comedy and serious roles, is quite amazing.

A dialogue which I would love to recollect from the movie happens to be:

’’Ek Ladki Dekhi, Bilkul Bijli Ki Tarah, One Flash, Ek Chamak Aur Mein Apna Dil Kho Beita’’ (Blame the scratched CD which prohibited me from listening to those dialogues again and again.....)
