Vijay Sethupathi has had a great run this year. Hits after hits, he has ruled the Tollywood industry this year. However, Rekka derails his campaign a bit as the movie is a brainless action movie.
Vijay Sethupathi( Siva) plays the role of a young man who helps the lovers unite when their families are at loggerheads with each other. One fateful day, he saves a girl who is not willing to marry David( Harish Uthaman). Since David is a local don in Kumbakonam, he gets furious by this and vows to take a revenge. On the eve of Sivas sisters wedding, David forces Siva to kidnap Bharathi (Lakshmi Menon) who is the the fiancée of Davids rival Chezhiyan(Kabir Singh). Siva gets entangled within the inter-gang rivalry and his own past comes back to haunt him as soon as he reaches Madurai. How Siva manages to get himself out of this tricky situation is the mainstay of this movie.
The first half of the movie is engaging, however, the second half completely disintegrates. The action-scenes are impressive, but they sometimes look funnier than racy. The villains are ineffective, both in persona and in dialogue-delivery. The flashbacks of Siva are way too lengthy and you feel like yawning, as the flashbacks are predictable.
As far as performances are concerned, Vijay has done a reasonable job, though, not as impressive as his previous roles. Lakshmi Menon as Bharathi is loud and an unfit for the role. The supporting cast is ineffective too. The direction is slick in the first half, however, the second half is lazily directed. The music too is below par. Overall, an average movie with a loose plot and below par performances.
