I had opted for a Reliance landline+broadband net connection when I shifted from Mumbai to Trivandrum in Dec 2013. Although I did not use the land line, the net connection worked like a charm even in most adverse weather(unseasonal rains, thunderstorms etc.) for almost a year.
Since Nov 2014, it has been giving frequent errors mainly DSL unstable and "Local Area connection not valid" . When I reported this multiple times and checked by the local vendor, it was found to be some copper cut issue with the nearest Reliance Junction box and it took almost a a month for the problem to be resolved.
However, since 20Jan2015, the DSL error has been recurring almost every day. This time after each complaint, a SR no. is raised(shouldnt it be a complaint, incident or problem and not SR?) and closed without someone even actually coming to check at my home what the problem is. After more than 2 weeks of persistent complaining, the local vendor(who also happens to be our cable TV service provider) checked the Primatel P100 ADSL2 modem, LAN & DSL wires as well as the junction box and concluded that nothing seems wrong with any of these.
He suggested that I ask Reliance customer support to change the port assigned to me as this cannot be done by the local vendor. Further, I emailed Reliance broadband customer support asking them to change the port. As usual, they replied back with a SR no. and was closed the next day without mentioning if the port was changed or not. The net worked fine till Sunday(8Feb2015). But the problem has started since Monday and got worse, not even 1 minute of net available since yesterday(10Feb2015) till now.
I have called customer care and also escalated an email to the Rcom appellate authority, hoping that this will be resolved for good.
Doesnt the Indian Govt have some department to keep a check on the service quality levels of such ISPs, especially for home users? Will the consumer court approach actually yield any results after a long, arduous process of filing the complaint, legal follow up?
Is there no way to hold Reliance Communications accountable & responsible for this absolute miserable customer service?
Any suggestions?
