Since MTNL did not had done their wiring in our area at sector 50 Nerul Navi Mumbai, I had availed internet connection with landline from Reliance Communications. However, my relations with this company (as usual) was not free from any problems.
First they took the booking money and disappeared for months together. After exchange of a long chain of correspondence the phone and internet was connected. Next problem the bill was generated in wrong name. To correct the name I requsted for 4 months when nothing seemed working I stopped paying the bills and only then Reliance people woke up and corrected the name in the bill.
Now on or about 22nd July 2009 I noticed my phone is dead so is the internet line. I lodged my connected on their customer care number 3033777 and waited for 2-3 days but nothinig happened. I started logging complaints daily (using my mobile so that I can produce the evidence of calls made to 30337777) but no one was ready to help.
Finally on 2nd or 3rd August one lady from collection dept of Reliance enquiring about the payment which was due on 2nd August 2009. I told her my phone is dead since almost 15 days and no one is interested to solve my problem, then why should I pay the bill? She tried to be harsh first but when I did not budge told me since I have not paid the bill my line is disconnected. Then I asked her how come she guessed or dreamt that I will not be paying the bill on or before the dealine on 22nd July 2009 itself.
Then I contacted the customer care and wrote mails to them and surprisingly the reply is that since I have not paid the bill which was due on 2-8-09, my line is disconnected on 22-7-2009. Really surprising as to how come these people can forsee future!!!!!!!!
I have received 2 replies from Reliance however they have failed to answer my query as to how they can forsee that a cusotmer having the connected for more than a year wihtout any default in paying the bills and no outstanding amount due till date will not pay the bill on or before the due date. They have asked me to pay the amount first and then they will reconnect the line. I have decided not to pay the money till I get a proper explanation with an apology from them. I have been advised to file police complaint in case I am harrased for payment by them. I am just waiting for their recovery agent to call me.
I FEEL WE MIDDLE INCOME GROUP PEOPLE ALWAYS STRUGGLE HARD AND MEET THE DEADLINES, MAKE OUR PAYMENTS, SWOLLOW THE INSULTS AND INCONVENIENCES CAUSED BY THESE BIG CORPORATES. NOW ITS TIME FOR US TO WAKE UP AND SHOW OUR POWER. WE MUST KNOW WE HAVE LIABILITY TO PAY THE DUES AT THE SAME TIME WE ALSO HAVE RIGHTS TO DEMAND PROPER SERVICE AND IMMUNITY AGAINST INJUSTICE.
