I moved out of Vijayanagar in April 2007 to Akshayanagar. I badly needed an internet connection. I earlier had Airtel Broadband 256kbps unlimited at Vijayanagar. My work depends very much on internet connectivity. Neither Airtel, BSNL, SIFY, Tata nor Hathway offered me any kinda connection. BSNL promised me a connection in about 3 months. But even after 5 months I could not get a connection. Last month I applied for reliance broadnet. Within 2 weeks I got the connection.
The only problem was with the person who came to install the Wimax antenna. He was in a hurry to finish his job and go home. Antenna was not fastened properly. After a rain we faced issues. But I and my brother are engineers and we could fix the problem easily. It has been a month. No hiccups of any sort. I recommended it to three more of my friends. Connection is running pretty well.
Because of the technology the connection is very reliable. For Rs.562 you even get a modem. Reliance has wired 20meters of cat5 cable till my PC and this itself would cost Rs.1000 in the market. If you have an ethernet card you are ready to go. No further investment is needed from your side while other ISPs ask you to buy/rent either a cable modem or ADSL modem.
3 members use the connection. 2MBPS, 7.5GB download per month costs Rs.1199+ taxes. I get a download speed of 280kbps.
Customer care is very responsive. I asked for a plan change to 300kbps unlimited(Rs.999+ taxes). I got it done in about 4 days. We are very happy with the service. All you need to do is be careful while getting the antenna installed.
Other ISPs make you wait for feasibility check and other formalities. You have to get the permission of the owner, dig the roads to get the cable to ur house. But in case of Broadnet, all u need is an antenna at the top of your house.
Amount paid for the entire package - Rs.562
Hardware cost - NIL. I had ethernet card on my PC. Else an ethernet card costs you Rs.200
Installation charges - Rs.562
Any other hidden charges - NIL
Advance monthly rental - NIL
Reliance Wimax ROX. Just go for it.
