I am a reliance netconnect broadband plus customer since the past one month. Purchased. Huawei EC1260 paying Rs.3500/-. I opted Broadband+ after seeing their advertisements.
This is my first experience with reliance. Things I liked about the service till now:
1) It never gets disconnected unlike BSNL.
2) I really liked the coverage. Broadband is available in all major cities and some
small cities as well. In the absence of broadband, you have the option of connecting
through 1x (which is not as fast as broadband) which is virtually available in every
corner of India!
3) The modem is very sleek and portable.
Things I did not like about reliance netconnect are:
1) The speed is not even close to the promised speed of 3.1mbps in Bangalore. The
speed was very good initially, but now a days the max download speed I see is around
300 kbps (through https://speedtest.net) and upload of around 30kbps. I was initially told
by the dealer himself that the speed will come down as the users increase.
Surprisingly, when I used it in Mysore, the speed was pretty decent since the number of
users are very less in that city.
I would like to advise customers not to check speed at any of the Reliance World
outlets as I find the speed always very good within their premises (they do have some
receptor or amplifier). Before buying, ask the dealer to get the demo card to your
usage location and check the actual speed there.
2) My friend was delivered a faulty ZTE modem a month and half back. They took more
than a month to replace the modem!!! It is a HUGE process to get the modem replaced
even though it was not in working condition on delivery. We had to go there around 9
times to get update on status!!!! They dont even share the contact number with you. The
surprising thing is Reliance World people themselves are properly not aware of the
replacement procedures.
So, when you buy a modem, make sure it is in working by carrying your laptop to the
dealer.
3) On their usage portal, they do not show the total usage, but show only the total of
each session. So this means, you need to add up everything to find the total usage. I
am quite sure that the only reason for them not to show the full usage is they dont
want the customer to have an exact track of the usage so that he exceeds the usage
limit and pays more. Being a software developer myself, displaying the total usage is
no rocket science and just takes a few lines of code. I am also a BSNL customer and
their usage portal is excellent.
Ha! of course, users have found tweaks to make the total usage appear within the
reliance software itself, like the trick available at https://anuragarora.wordpress.com/
4) If you buy a connection and need to go abroad within one month, you cant put it to
safe custody because you need at least 3 billing cycles to put it to safe custody.
5) Customer Care (CC) executives in general are not efficient. I had requested for a plan change and was promised to be done in 24 hours. Whenever I called the CC, the response I would get was "The request has been forwarded to the concerned department, even we are not aware of the status of your request". It was the same answer by all the executives.
There was one executive who was very rude and harsh and this was the first time I faced such a support guy in my entire experience of speaking to CC people of Citibank, HDFC, Airtel, ICICI, etc. (I use their services)
6) Usually, when you send a mail to any CC, you get an auto acknowledgement immediately with the complaint no. I sent a mail to customercare@relianceada.com and got a response from their people after 7 days!!!! There was no auto acknowledgement and hence no way for us to track it through a complaint no.
