Ok here we go with Reliance WiMax:
What is it: I had wireless internet, but this one comes with an antenna that is supposed to face the nearest Reliance tower to catch signal. So this means that antenna has to placed in your balcony or terrace. A wire from the antenna then connects to your PC/Laptop.
The connection that I had taken was 2MBPS line with monthly rental of Rs 750. 2Mbps line is required if you want to connect to VPN (Virtual Private Network). Anything less than 2Mbps is not sufficient.
Well the speed is awesome, probably faster than my office speed. Its simply fantastic.
Problem area: There are ceratin parts in city wherein with advent of tall rise buildings (esspecially in Pune), Reliance WiMax suffers. In my new home, the antenna deposit on the terrace (8th floor) could not locate the nearest Reliance tower. This is a major issue. As a result of this I had to give up this connection. Nevertheless I used it for 8-9 months and did not find any problem with speed and connectivity despite my connection being a dynamic IP address one. I now have the Reliance telephone (landline) with wire conenction internet.
I would recommend Wimax, but ensure that you do not take the data card option, as the speed is horrible. I do understand that people who are always on the move may opt for data card option for their laptops.
Well what do I say about their customer service? I registered Service Request with Reliance stating that the antenna be shifted form my old home to the new address. I waited and waited till the last day of my shifting so that they would come and remove the antenna. They did not and I myself had took spanner and removed the antenna from my old home. After moving to the new home, the Reliance staff came after 15 days and predictably they got earful loads from me. So this proves the level of bad service that they give to the customers.
As for the billing I dont know always used to recieve when the due date was just 2 days away. Never recieved well before time.
Moral of the story: Grin and Bear it!
