I am a unfortunate user of Reliance Broadband + from Kerala.
I had used BSNL EVDO connection for more than 1 year 10 months without any issue but got lured onto the 3.1 MBPS marketing gimmick (my EVDO connection was 2 MBPS speed), and tried it out for just 2 months- AND ALREADY GOT SWINDLED BY THEM!
I had opted for a 13 GB per month download limit which should cost me around 849 Rupees a month- but ended up with a 2nd month bill (1st month usage was only for 11 days & it was only 332 Rupees) of Rs. 2835 (are u kidding me!!!).
This extra charge they had calculated for extra day time usage- which is a fiction of theirs. I had been checking my daily usage in MBs since my friends had warned me not to go for Reliance since they are cut-throats, and I had seen excess usage being noted by them which was no way being generated by me. Hence I had sent them mail in advance- 15 days before I received the bill stating that they are charging me much more than I am using- I called the customer service also & they told me that it will be sorted out & I will be charged normally when I receive my bill- the same assurance
I got from a mail from customer service that it will be all right. BUT I RECEIVED THE SHOCK OF MY LIFE when I received the bill from them- revoking all promises which they had ever made.
I subsequently sent them mails- to the billing section, to the customer service section, to the complaint section, to the appellate body, to all I could sent the message across within Reliance- with all documentary evidence I had collected on my usage- XL files on the same, PDF files on the same, my usage history all- and I was faced with the same answer- sorry, you are charged so & so, no waiver can be given.
I am truly upset by their lack of empathy- and I am sure that none of these guys actually read our mails, but they simply give a ’copy pasted’ reply to our mails!
I am contemplating withdrawing their service immediately, since I do not want to be swindled again- if this is the experience after the very 2nd month- what would happen further on!!!
I wanted all of you users to know that reliance is out there to blindly charge whatever they want & to give no explanation to our genuine queries or to even give a proper reply to our doubts. BEWARE OF THEM! - They will charge you from your nose! & fleece you of your last penny if they can. I did not believe this when my friends told me this, but at last, now I realize- PLZ DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE THAT I MADE, GO FOR ANY OTHER PROVIDER- TATA, BSNL, MTS - ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN RELIANCE!!!
Also I want all of you to tell this to as many ppl who are planning on going for a connection- beware, do not make the same mistake that I made- I had made an outright purchase of the modem- Rs. 3500- gone straight down the drain - BSNL allows you to try out the EVDO in rental basis & if you are satisfied, then you can buy it or continue on rent! - try anything else.
Waiting eagerly for your responses + let me know which is the best alternate service according to you.
In case any of you want to have a look at all the correspondence I had over email with the Reliance ppl, I can mail you the same- you will understand how unreasonable they are!
