Their outlet in Koramanagala, Bangalore has drawn a huge crowd. It cant be called as a big store, rather it is meant to be a convenient store for the block. The space inside is not able to handle crowds. The location is ideal in terms of accessibility, but parking is a nightmare, causing traffic jams. Surely the traffice police would soon be fining the vehicle owners or tow the vehicles away.
The management must take note of this and provide a suitable parking area in the basement or in some vacant plot. When inside, it can get very claustrophobic that one hardly gets sufficient space to select the products. So crowded is the shop floor, that shopping is not a thing of leisure, but rubbing against one another and long queues at the check out counter.
The vegetable trays are quite often empty, and the shop attendants are unable to replenish them. Due to the crowd and nature of the products, the flooring and rest of the areas are dirty, though the housekeeping is on the move, trying to get their swabs between the hundreds of pairs of legs. The freshness of vegetables is not to be seen. The prices are comparatively low, but if the vegetables are not fresh, it does not serve the purpose.
It is quite likely that the initial euphoria will subside and when it acquires a steady state condition, the management must get hold of the reigns and work around the bottleneck areas.
I would think that if Reliance opens a few more of such shops in the layout, (one per block) then the convenience of shopping will lead it to a greater success.
It would be too early to rate their operations, hence at this stage it is only an average rating and lots needs to be done.
As a resident of Koramangala I surely hope that the management recognises and responds to the finer details. I wish them a successful venture.
