Reliance - a gujju run textile shop

Reliance dug up all the roads in Bangalore to lay ’’fibre optic’’ cables. Essentially they used a diamond saw to make a 6 inch incision along all the roads. They put in an empty

pipe made of recycled waste from their Pathalganga plant. But they did not lay one inch of fibre optic cable inside the empty pipe!!!

All the poor suckers who bought reliance phones were locked into the device because you had to sign on all kinds of documents to buy the phone. They were no better than banks who poke their noses into every stinking orifice to make sure you can pay em back. (Not my words, twas Don Corleone).

They managed to get import duties imposed on cheap PVC and PP (plastic raw material) coming in from Korea and Japan just when oil prices were dipping in the mid 90’s when they started their own Oil Cracking Plant. They then created an artficial shortage of raw materials and jacked up the prices.

They may be big but they still run it like a textile shop. They have a core team of old timers who take all the major decisions on investments.

There are no more ethical professionals working in the company. Sure there are the usual MBA types who hang around but they’re the mercenaries hiding beneath a thin veneer of education and hypocricy. No different than the petrol pump employee who started the company.

In the recent elections even before the Congress govt was installed in the center Anil Ambani went to meet Sonia Gandhi to congratulate her as the press put it. I think it was just to clarify the account numbers to which he’d transfer money when needed.

Its easy to go from 0 to a billion dollars if you strangle your concience. But thats not the way I like to make my money.

Just goes to prove the old adage - when money talks, bullshit walks.
