I’m forced to use Reliance telephone internet connection for lack of other options in this part of Pune. I have been using it for almost 6 months now. Review is based on my personal experiences
Pros:
1. You choose your speed online: I don’t know if any other internet provider in India does this, but reliance allows you to change your plan at will at their portal. So if you should decide that you need more bandwidth, you choose a plan that has higher download speed. Billing is Pro Data.
2. No Pay No Disconnect: I stay with a bunch of bachelor friends, and I think its amazing how Reliance will not disconnect our connection even if we do not pay our bill for 3 months at a stretch.finally we do, and no fuss about it.
3. The router has battery backup: Thats right. power cut and we are still connected. Backup lasts for an hour at best.
Cons:
1. Shitty Speed: Thats right. Take any plan you want. There is no gurantee you will get 8 KBPS or 80 KBPS.
We changed our plan from 64 to 300 KBPS and the speed varies from 10 to 40 KBPS from time to time.
2. Unreliable: Stops working from time to time. God forbid if you have to use VPN. Then you are screwed. I get disconnected from VPN every 5 or 10 mins. Its impossible to get any work done on this bloody connection.
3. Logout ever 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 hrs: You get logged out for no reason after a random amount of time. Reliance internet is useless if you intend to download something that will take time.
