Reliance prepaid - Review on selected areas

The reason why I took a Reliance connection on the first hand was that the call rates used to be very low especially for people like me who make a large number of calls. Remember, they were the first one to introduce the One Rupee per minute STD calls across India.

The other attraction was the pretty low rates/free calls to any one of other reliance phones. Almost 90% of the Reliance Customers that I personally knew had girl/boy friends and all day(/night) talking to them was either free or at very low rates.

In the beginning, both these advantages were there. But later on, other operators also had reduced the rates while Reliance stayed wherever they were and also in some cases, withdrew several of their offers.

To add to that, the customer care is very inefficient. You would have to wait for a long time to get connected to them and in almost all of the cases, they won’t be able to help you at all; but they never fail to give you excuses like "Sorry sir, our systems are down; please call after a few hours".

I had this billing problem with them: Several times they treated all my calls and messsages as on roaming whenever I moved out of Chennai but well within Tamil Nadu.(The seperate zone for Chennai had ceased to exist since long). I had tried several times in vain to get the issue solved through their customer care number*367, but it never helped. I had even asked them for any other means of registering the complaint but they told me there’s no other way. Later, I surfed their site and came to know that there is a provision to send complaints online and the customer care people were not even aware of that. After availing that facility, I got it reimbursed, but not before waiting for another 4 months. Alll those who have complaints, please go to their site and register the complaint as well. The link to register the complaints/suggestions is this: https://reliancecommunications.co.in/webapp/Communications/jsp/personalinfo/PersonalInformation.jsp. You can also contact them at this email: customercare@relianceada.com

Some of the other problems that I face is the non-availability/difficulty to avail basic facilities like call-waiting even in a Nokia-Reliance mobile, the unreliability in transport of messages between Reliance and other GSM providers esp BSNL.

I feel that after getting a large market share, Reliance does not care for its customers any more especially because they know that most of them will retain their connections jsut because it is not as easy as changing your SIM to get a CDMA connection replaced
