Since last 25 days Reliance GSM customers have been facing immense problem due to the shut down of GSM service in different areas of West Bengal. When I first faced this problem, I thought it to be a temporary break down. But later I checked in internet and found that Reliance failed to renew their 2G spectrum and going to shut down 2G GSM service in West Bengal.
To confirm its authenticity I tried to to contact the Customer Care. But every Reliance customer knows how difficult it is to contact and talk to them. Having failed I lodged a complaint by email giving the details of my location and the nature problem. Response came after long waiting of 10 days. They asked for the same information which I have already provided.
Actually based on my previous experience I have understood that this is the strategy to prolong the complaint redressing process so as to exhaust the enthusiasm of the customers to pursue the issue. Now with my SIM I cannot register it to any network. Even I cannot port it as I cannot send SMS. I have not seen such careless and indifferent attitude of any customer care service. If they are going to discontinue their GSM 2G network, they should have informed the customers well before the due time so that they can move to other service providers.
