It is breaking news for me( may have broken others too!!) This morning on of my business associates who owns a reliance mobole handset manufacutred by Nokia happened to discuss the probme he faced with the phone. The day befoer the set went dead. So he presented it at the customer care /nokia care centre. Present condition of the set is DEAD.
Now Noklia people say that if the set cannot be repaired, you will have to ask Reliance for another handset. Naturally the phone number will change.
So all his contacts who have the existing number will be unanble to get in touch. That means a big loss for my friend whose business depends on his moblie and existing number.
The only way out as suggested by reliance ppl. is to de-register from the service, return the handset by paying 5000 Rs. and again reapplying for a fresh handset to get the same phone number.
What can this be called? A rip off. Or a classic case of cheating , fraud, manupulation - a case fit under ther Monopolies & restrictive trade practices act
So the moral of the story: Reliace se bach ke rehna baba..
Therefore my friends a GSM service provider is way better than a CDMA mobile service provider.
In case u lose your sim card/handset u pay 200 rs and get the SAME number back
Here with reliance it is a total loss. A classic case of having the cake and eating it too!!
