I am from Bhubaneswar and when Reliance mobile communication entered our state Orissa towards the end of 1990s, I used to use Reliance GSM service when both incoming and outgoing calls used to cost Rupees 5.40 per minute. But, I left this service provider in the year 2010 due to several reasons that I would like to detail below.
Network Coverage: Speaking about network coverage, it was quite satisfactory in town areas, but absolutely down in rural areas(2000-2009), It was a problem to get disconnected when I visited my village during vacations in summer.
Unauthorized Charges: In 2010, one day I noticed that Rupees 30 were deducted from my balance and I did not make any call and accessing Internet on mobile was not available. It continued for three days.
Customer Service: When I called the customer service regarding this problem, I was told that some options on my mobile might have been activated for which the money was getting deducted. But when I asked about what it was specifically, she did not reply and then I asked how to deactivate it, she said that she would do it, but which was not done even two days after and money was getting deducted as before.
Cheap Marketing Policy: Then I decided to surrender it and go for BSNL which I applied for the next day. The very next day after that, an employee from Reliance came to my house and started convincing not to surrender and promised many attractive offers which I did not believe. This shows how cheap they are in their marketing policy. Now more than six years without Reliance mobile and I do not have any such issues and shall never go back to reliance for sure.
