Netconnect should be called NOTConnect!

I did not listen to my colleagues. They told me not to buy a reliance broadband + netconnect device, as they said that it is a product of a big time cheat company. However, i did not listen to them and it appears that i am paying for it. I bought a reliance broadband + netconnect device on the 5th of may 2010 from a reliance shop (salasar infocomm) based in g-11/3, hauz khas market, new delhi - 110016. The phone number of the shop is 93138666699. The problem that i am facing is that the device does not work on hsd mode at all. If it connects, it connects only at the slow 1x mode.


My details:


Product:- hsd prepaid device, mdn number:- 9311118751, of zte make.


Date of purchase:- 5th may 2010 evening.


I lodged a complaint to the customer care helpline on the 6th of may, after i realised that the device had never connected in hsd mode at all, even though i had tried to use the device in multiple locations in delhi and on three different computers. I had done an ’uninstall - reinstall’ of the software multiple times on all the computers. I had also cleared the computers of the temporary files and cache memory.


On 7th may 2010, a service engineer, by the name bhudev sharma came to visit me and check the device. His mobile number is +919310350643. He saw the device and could not solve the problem and could not make it run on high speed. He tried it on his own computer, and also tested and showed me that his own device was easily running on hsd mode in this location and he also commented ’if in hauz khas area of south delhi the device will not work on broadband where in the world would it do so?). He went away quietly saying that someone from reliance would give me a call after some time and tell me what to do next. No one has called me after that till now - 11 pm on the 8th may 2010. He aldo said that the device has a replacement warrranty for the devicefor only one week. So if they continue to delay, they would not lose anyting - it would be totally my loss!


I am getting a feeling that i have actually been cheated by the company and would have been happier, had i purchased a tata photon + or mts device instead.


In your interest, and after seeing my situation, i would suggest potential buyers to keep away from netconnect and reliance.

Update:


The device started working a few days later, after i drove the customercare crazy and escalating the issue. The salasar guys were helpful too after all this and got the device to work. I flatly refused to go to any service centre to get the device changed - which i was asked to do. So they took it and got the job done. So now i am happy that after all the thing is working. But their service is quite unstable many times. However, the tata photon + i saw was far worse!! So the choice is between 2 bad providers for now!!
