It is very unfortunate that I decided to go for Reliance Netconnect. It has been a few months since I have a post paid connection. At the time of taking the connection they are extremely fast in coming over and selling their extremely overpriced device. I now realise it was a big mistake to go for Reliance.
Firstly, when I opted for Reliance there were no unlimited plans(this was some 8-9 months back). Their plans are more expensive compared to others. Also, I feel this device is more expensive than that of their competitors. In Bangalore, Reliance doesnt even provide 3G connection, whereas there are several others like Airtel and Docomo which are 3G.
Eventually, after I got some other internet connection, I realised there is no easy way to get rid of this device. If I try to sell the device to someone and transfer the connection then the recipient has to pay Rs. 500 for just transferring the card from my name to his/her name. So, if I have to sell my device off to someone then Ill get peanuts. I decided to use this device when Im travelling and common sense tells me I should get it converted to pre-paid from my existing post-paid plan. To convert to pre-paid, the customer care guys ask me to go to a retail outlet. I go to a local centre and they ask me to go to a "Reliance Web World" only because I purchased this card when I was in Pune and since then have shifted to Bangalore. So as per them only the "Web World" guys are authorised to handle out of state connections. Now when I go to a "Web World" on a weekend, they say you come with ID proof and that too only on Weekdays between 10-6. Since it sounded like I have to take a day off just to convert my plan, I thought of cancelling my connection. But how could I be so naive, even for disconnecting the service Reliance requires you to first call up their customer service number, take their permission, then bring a copy of you ID proof to a "Web World", fill out a form "requesting" for cancellation and the high and mighty customer service representatives will verify your request, validate that you are indeed the owner of the plan and then will grant the permission for cancellation of service.
My advise - if you want to save yourself from all the high handedness of Reliance, never ever go for their service.
