I am in Vadodara / Baroda, Gujarat. I opted for reliance wimax for our Hospital, in place of BSNL Broadband.
Setup:
I sign the application and gave chaque on Friday. I got installed the wimax antenna on next Monday morning and within 3 hours they gave fix ip and the internet started working. So its pretty fast set up.
Speed VS Cost:
I opted for 1.5 mbps plan as we have 3 laptops and 1 desktop. I am getting almost constant speed with my plan. They told me that no ISP will give upload speed assurance, but in fact I am getting 1.5 mbps download and 1 to 1.2 mbps upload speed. . YouTube is playing without break on all computers at same time. So if you have only one computer to run then I advise you to go for 600 kbps or 1 mbps plan.
Video upload is also matter of minutes.
I checked price of other ISP for 1.5 mbps and I found Reliance wimax cheaper than other. I dont know about other states but its cheaper at least in Gujarat.
Presently I gave 1 month rental because I was not sure about speed, but now I am going to pay 12 month rental and get 3 months free. Advance rental discount can be availed anytime at the start of billing month; this is what I have been told by technical guy.
Unlimited:
All plans are for unlimited data transfer. So it is much better then typical combo unlimited plans where there is high speed for few gbs then slow speed then after. So in combo plans there is always a fear of utilizing high bandwidth early. It happens to our old bsnl plan. Where we were getting good speed for 8 to 10 days till the data limit is over. Then its horrible slow internet speed for rest of the month.
So it really matters when you get good speed(in my case 1.5 mbps) all the time for whole month.
Fix IP:
This gives me un-authenticated connection, means no username or password. We have CCTV camera surveillance, Network attached hard drive. So with static ip I can get access to CCTV and NAS from anywhere through internet. No need for other DNS services like dyndns.com, which block our ip every week for some foolish reason and forced to buy their service.
Connectivity:
It is run by wireless antenna so, no worry of cable cut(which is very common with BSNL). I have heard about connectivity problem during bad weather, but till date I have not experience such bad connectivity.
Service & Support:
I gave 5 point to service & support because the setup was fast. I cannot tell about cust. care because I have not come across any situation where I need to contact cust. care.
Finally I will not write phone number of the guy who made it possible to set up in 3 days, otherwise my review will be considered as Bias review. If you really need it you can ask me by contacting me through Message.
