Religare Health insurance, not a good choice.

Religare is a new player in Health Insurance and I must say that they have made every effort  to sell their policies in market.I am being a victim of it would like to share it with you.

I have been researching for a health insurance for my father from last 2-3 months, and have been continuously getting call from a MediManage (a company who deals in health insurance) to take Religare health insurance citing various advantages.

Pros cited by health insurance agent (Name- >Shadab) -

  1. This is the best insurance for ur father as if u take it now (my father has not turned 61 but crossed 60), then there wont be any co-pay in coming years.

  2. If you take 5 lakhs policy then there will not be any limits on room rent, we are eligible for single occupied deluxe room.

  3. it has the lowest premium as compared to other policies and it is providing lots of benefits including no claim bonus and top-up etc.

  4. every year a health check up will be done.

I took the policy keeping above in mind and took a 5 lakhs policy. As soon as the policy is taken, issues started to come.

1.  We were told we need to get a health checkup and they will arrange the health insurance. My father went to get the checkup done, but to my surprise, the hospital guy was not aware of any such checkups aligned.I had to dial several time to customer care as well as agents to arrange it, which finally happened after 2 hrs.

  1. Then a great surprise call from Medimanage agent, he earlier told that there will be no co-pay from next yr but now he told that there is a different premium for no-copay (5 yrs policy) than what is shown on the site. Site shows around 17k but he told if u want to continue then we will have to pay around 20k for no-copay.

If u continue 5 lakhs policy with 17k then 10% copay will be applicable. Then we were suggested that we can decrease the amount to 4lakhs from next yr and there will not be any copay in that case if we continue, and the amount will come to around 17k.

But then many advantages of 5lakhs policy will go off.

Now you can see how Religare did not show the correct information on their site and hence medimanage also was no aware of all information. I am surprised that as soon as we took the policy, all the information was told then.

I am afraid of how will Religare actual treat us  when we actual would want to claim some amount. After taking the policy also there is no peace of mind.

Guys be very careful while taking Religare policy, as people who are selling it might not be fully aware of the surprises which might come when u buy it.

I would say avoid this policy.
