Remains Of The Day, The - Kazuo Ishiguro

Hmm, a literary classic, a highly respected author, and held in high esteem by many. Unfortunately I found it ok.

Dislikes:

Too much internal dialogue. I knew that the main character was an unreliable narrator and that I would have to read between the lines to find out the truth, but there were still too many lines!

I have never been emotional. I’ve read reviews saying people were blown away by the ending. I just said "well" and put the book down.

What I Liked:

Beautifully written and the narrator’s true nature built in a very insidious way.

Background. Both the beautiful surroundings of West England and the historical facts of the time.

I liked it, but I didn’t like it. However, I recommend reading more of this author’s work.
