I subscribe to many of the popular women’s magazines, so I took notice when advertisements for the Remington Smooth and Silky Epilator appeared in every one of them. The advertisement sounded like a heaven sent hair removal technique and I was convinced that smooth silky legs were only a phone call away.
The Dream:
The Ad for this epilator states that the ’’Unique Hair Removal System gently removes hair from the root so your skin stays silky smooth for up to 4-6 weeks.’’ This appealed to me because I am always looking for an alternative to shaving my underarms, bikini area, and legs. I am on the go 24/7 and some mornings, shaving rituals can be time consuming...not to mention painful if I am shaving in a hurry. I have tried the creams that eat away at sensitive skin, hot waxing which can burn, and cold waxing which always seems to leave wax behind. All of these techniques were either too painful (yes girls, waxing hurts) or produced undesirable effects. I was praying that the Remington Smooth and Silky Epilator was the new technology break thru that I had been waiting for. So, very willingly I pulled out my credit card and ordered the Smooth and Silky Epilator.
One week later...
The Pain:
Through express delivery I was trying out my new hair removal product within a week and is wasn’t quite the ’’unique hair removal system’’ that the ad boosted about. I have never felt so much pain come from a hair removal technique in my life…There is nothing gentle about this product (Ladies, multiply the pain of waxing by 10). After 5 minutes I was in tears. After 10 minutes, I had to stop…it was just too painful.
The Reality:
This is how the Remington Smooth and Silky Epilator really works…
36 Hypo-Allergenic 24-Karat-Gold plated disks turn at the same time to act like 18 different pairs of tweezers to pull hair out by the roots as you glide the epilator across your skin. I have very sensitive skin and it is hard for me to handle the pain of just 1 pair of tweezers, the effect of 18 pairs at the same time almost drove me insane. That pain was very intense.
I will give credit where credit is due, besides the pain that I experienced, this is a very advanced product. The hair really does stay gone for up to 4 weeks. The design of the epilator is very smooth and easy to handle and comes with a brush to help you clean it after use. Remington even throws in a cute little carrying pouch, but in my eyes nothing will make up for the pain. I do not recommend this product…I just used the epilator on my legs and I couldn’t imagine the pain one would feel who wanted it for unwanted facial hair removal.
