Reservoir dogs, is probably the best piece of directed work we’ve seen from the talented Quentin Tarantino. Made in 1992, the film is about ten gangsters who attempt to rob a jewellery store for an extortionate amount of money. The plan is to take their fortune to an abandoned warehouse and plan their escape from there. Equipped with guns, torture and their own fighting abilities, i.e. to kick the hell out of somebody, they will stop at nothing to get what they want and when they want it. The groups of individuals are united for the first time when the leader of the gang, referred to only as Joe, meets the organised group. The other gangsters are referred to only by code names, which are that of colours, i.e. Mr Pink, Mr Blue, etc as to not give anything away that is related to their background or any other useful information that maybe of use to the police. The idea being to naturally conceal their identity or for protectoral reasons. The film contains extreme violence and has one of the most famous torture scenes within filming history. The ear shot. Reservoir dogs is not set out in the normal time zone of making films. In order to create as much realism as possible, we watch as if the events are unfolding right in front of us at that moment.
Portrays events that few films manage to do in such a realistic and accurate way. Well done Quentin.
