A fourth episode of the bloody and evil series, Resident Evil, sounds stale. Yes, but they thought of an interesting twist to the current prodigy, a new Dimension to it, literally. The New movie in 3D, added that much needed boost to the final(hopefully) movie in the quadro-logy! "Resident Evil - Afterlife"
Plot -
Alice, starts off yet another fight against the Evil Umbrella Corporation, but somehow ends up loosing her powers, thanks to an injection from an evil T-virus survivor wannabe. She joins hands with a group of survivors who want to relocate to a mysterious safe place called Arcadia. Will Alice be able to save the survivors from the evil clutches of Umbrella corporation? Will this be the end of Umbrella Corp? Is Arcadia the answer to all the questions? Find out inside the 4th edition of Resident Evil.
Effects -
3D was surprisingly good, and very well edited. I always wanted to see Claire(Ali Larter) kick some A**, and to watch her do it in 3D was awesome! :) Alice (Mila Jovovich) was as usual charming, and awesome, however that unwanted twist of she loosing her powers didnt quite prove worth it. Others like Wentworth Mille as Chris Redfield, and Kim Coates as Bennett were ok. Boris Kodjoe as Luther was fun,
The action sequences in 3D were very nicely shot, and are truely worth watching, and totally worth the money spent. Specially, the one where Alice and Claire together kill the infected Giant.
Others scenes to look out for would be -
Alice(or a bunch of em) killing the agents in the opening scenes.
The scenes where slow motion was used to magnify the 3D effects (the one with the running coin-bullets, and the Plane crashes).
The scene where Alice lands the plane on the roof of the survivor building.
It lacked the usual comic punches, which were there in plenty in the previous episodes. So, adding a few more would have been fun.
Overall -
As most of us thought, this one doesnt have that much of a storyline to amuse us, and the use of 3D and impeccable special effects, helps in making this a good watch. Not as interesting as the first part, or the third (i dont particularly liked the second part), but it surely is a good full on Action Movie.
If you want to go for a fun, Hollywood Action movie this weekend, this one would be a good bet.
