Don't resurrect it!

A predictable movie is what I would call this one. I could have done much better in it, you know? , being fond of mysteries and murders and all that. But I will give the devil his due and say that the movie had a unique plot to it. Let us begin at the beginning.

Hero- John Prudhomme, lost his only child a year ago and is still suffering the loss, meanwhile in the city, a series of grisly murders have been taking place. Each murder involves a missing body part. Each body has roman numerals carved in them. (I did say they were grisly, may I add gruesome?).

John has been called in to investigate. He is not a very popular guy with the other guys on the force, beats me why a poker faced cop doesn’t have friends. Well, he and his partner Andrew have been called into this case and the investigation begins.

To cut to the chase, they (John) discovers that the roman numerals correspond to passages in the bible in supplement to the names of the victims, Matthew, Peter, etc.. It becomes pretty clear that the killer is planning to celebrate Easter by rebuilding the body of Christ completely, hence the missing body parts.

An FBI officer shows up on the scene offering his assistance to the skeptical John and team and throws some light on the investigation so far. The adrenalin starts to flow when they are in the same room as the killer but the killer escapes.

A chase down the alley and a case of mistaken identity leads to the shooting of Johns partner, Andrew, in the leg. The killer needs a leg, so when the hospital amputates his leg, the killer takes flight with it. Now this is personal.

The killer sends a threat to John saying that he must pay for his silence with remorse. In other words, he is going after Johns wife. John reaches home to find blood-spattered walls and a dead woman who (no surprise to me at all) is not his wife but his wifes friend who was paying them a visit. But wait! When a pictorial report of the murders appears in a magazine, it gives the investigating team a clue where the killer is hiding.

Do I want to go on? I would like to. I have omitted a lot of details in this review. I don’t want to spoil it for those who may be interested in watching this movie. It just wasn’t my type coz I have seen dozens of these kind of movies enough to predict each move all the way right till the end.

What the movie does lack is some really good acting. The actors seem like a motley crew thrown in to make a low budget movie. The movie also lacks glamour.

The unknown star cast doesn’t make it appealing though the story is well planned and thought-out.

A decent cast of actors could have saved this movie but other than the unique plot, this movie also, along with the millions of other low grade and low budget ones, will disappear in the whirlpool of Hollywood rejects.
