I have only been to Atlanta, George once. I was attending a conference that was being held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel.
The Ritz Carton was a few blocks from where the convention was being held, (the Georgia World Congress Centre). The Convention Organizers had arrange for a block of rooms and so I paid $100.00 USD, per night.
I arrived by Northwest Airline, and the moment I stepped off the aeroplane, I almost fainted. The heat and humidity made the make-up start running down my face.
There is a transfer bus that takes you to all of the down town hotels. I was extremely happy that it was air-conditioned. It took about 15 minuted to arrive at the hotel, (by then I had reapplied my make-up).
.:The Hotel:.
The hotel was aglow in a chrome colour as we pulled up to the front door. There was a half dome canopy over the door, the had Ritz Carton, in black letters, on it. Above that was the flag of the United States.
The doorman helped me out of the bus, and had a bellboy take my luggage. The doorman was wearing a tuxedo and a top hat. He escorted me through the swinging doors, and told me that the luggage would be delivered to my room.
The Lobby:
The lobby had wood walls and a gold carpet. I walked past a few sofas, chairs and a Gift Shop, as I went to check in. The check in counter was along the back wall. It was quite late and there was no one in line, so the check-in was quite fast. They have a feature, that if you leave them an imprint of your credit card, you can check-out, by signing the voucher, that will be slipped under your door on your last night. Then you drop it and the card key off at the front desk, and there is no need to stand in line to check out.
After I checked in a man walked up to me and told me he was the Butler on the floor, my room was on. He escorted me to my room, opened the shuttered door, and showed me where every thing was. There was a button I could push to call him if I needed him.
My Room:
When he finished showing me the room, he told me that not only was there a 24 hour room service, but a special menu, if I wanted to be served something while I was in the bath!
He also told me the maid would clean up my room in the morning and also at night. If I needed anything from her I should leave a note on the bed.
He also told me to leave my shoes in a box outside the room, before I went to bed at night. In the morning they would be back, nice and shiny, because the hotel polishes them for free. My complimentary news paper would be on top of the box.
If I needed a seamstress, to mend anything, there was one available 24 hours a day. I hadnt even slept here one night, and I wanted to stay here forever!
My room was decorated in shades of off white, pale yellow and gold. I had a queen sized bed, that had goose down pillows on it. On each side was a night table. A telephone was on one of the tables and an alarm clock radio that had a CD player in it. The drawer below help a number of CDs that were classical, western and jazz music.
There were two soft high back chairs, with a coffee table between them. On the coffee table was a bottle of wine and a plate of cheese and crackers. There was also a vase of peonies, that my Travel Agent had sent and
The chest of drawers was large and the TV set was on top of it. It was set behind two shuttered doors, so if I wasnt watching it I could close the door. Next to it was an ice bucket and four glasses. The closet was a nice size and their was a safe in the closet. I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw the hangers. They were all padded with a satin cover.
There was a mini bar, and a desk, that had another phone and a connection to the internet.
The bathroom wall and floor were tiled in white and yellow colours. There was a toilet, with another phone on the wall, a walk in glass shower, a tub and a sink. On the counter where the sink was a basket of mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body moisturiser and a plastic sewing kit. On the wall next to the long mirror was a smaller make-up mirror, that had lights all around it. There was a hair drier on the wall.
Below the cabinet were some drawers and a bathroom scale. Behind the door was a terry towel robe.
Dinning:
After the first morning, I was glad I was attending a conference, and was wearing a suit. There is no way I would ever walk into the diningroom, unless I was dressed to the nines, (in the nicest close I owned).
There is only one place to eat in the hotel. The Atlanta Grille is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a bar next to the dinning room.
The menu offers both American food and southern food.
The walls of the room are a rich wood colour. There are a few tables in the middle, but most on the seating is on round leather benches.

.:My Final Thoughts:.
I will never get to stay here for the price I paid. The hotel does have packaged rates that start at $200.00 - $250.00.
I would love to stay here again, and if you can afford it, I hope you will consider the Ritz Carlton, if youre in Atlanta.
